I can’t believe it’s been a year.
Today is the first anniversary of the somewhat horrifying and most definitely un-zen-like arrival of Nolan, also known as the most beautiful day of my life. Well, slightly less beautiful than the day on my honeymoon in Mexico that I got huevos rancheros at the most glorious buffet I’ve ever experienced, but way more beautiful than a lot of other days when I haven’t had access to a buffet.
Seriously, I love my little guy and am so pleased that he has progressed from a plus-sized baby model resembling a ham to a mid-sized baby model still somewhat ham-like but now able to do some basic baby sign-language, which is a capacity far beyond the realm of your typical ham.

Now, I know we have some new readers, thanks to recent features on Pregnant Chicken, Abandoning Pretense, and Outmanned. New readers don’t really know Nolan yet, or have a vested interest in watching the evolution of his hair stylings in a slideshow format. That being said, the proud mom in me is overriding the “extremely media savvy” blogger in me and posting a little slideshow anyway.
It’s all of two excellent songs long, so maybe if you don’t care about my baby you can just play it anyway, listen to the songs, and scroll through photos of your own baby on your iPhone so it will be like YOU made the slideshow. See? So easy, and everyone wins.
I’d suggest watching on the full screen mode (FYI it takes a few seconds before the pictures click into super clear focus).
It’s been an incredible year. And while I may never understand it when people say that they “can’t remember life before the baby,” (really?? You can’t remember it at all?!) I do understand it when people talk about just how much they love their kids. That? That I get.

Happy Birthday Nolan!! What an excellent slideshow – I don’t even know the little guy (aside from checking in here regularly for the last few months) and I got a little teary. I guess it’s such an amazing year, they’re never going to change quite so drastically in such a short period of time ever again… Or maybe I’m just jealous that I won’t put together such a great slideshow for C’s birthday next month. Either way, I hope Nolan had the happiest of happy first birthdays.
