Ok guys, special request today. One of my favorite people in the world, Adriana (Adzy) sent me the following email yesterday in regards to her sister Nadya, who is due with her first baby imminently:
Nadya is making me make her a PUSH MIX… have you heard of this stuff? It is a music list for the delivery room. I’m like… WTF? Do you want songs like with a beat and with some rage in them to pump you up and have a baby or do you want something zen. She doesn’t know. I don’t know. Any interest in asking your parenting community what they would have wanted in the delivery room? Recommendations? So far, I have gotten Push It by Salt and Peppa and I’m a Survivor by Destiny’s Child.
So there you have it. Our “parenting community” has been called upon for help, and we will deliver! (Actually, Nadya will deliver, but we will help with the soundtrack).
Time is of the essence, Nadya could be crowning with this baby at any moment and Adzy needs time to organize her mix. We don’t know how long Nadya will be laboring, so let’s give her a lot to work with. Perhaps Adzy can make two mixes, one for the soothing labor moments, and one for the aggressive labor moments. She can just wait in the delivery room with a giant old school boom box and switch the mix tapes back and forth depending on the mood. It will be awesome.
Your task is simple: leave a comment with your music suggestions for Nadya’s Push Mix! And remember, your input could make or break this birth experience, so think hard. I’m very interested to see what everyone comes up with…
Good luck Nadya!
Darcy
I like the pandora station idea… I had old calming favs playing during the hours of waiting, but a natural hush set in when it came time to push. I dunno if somebody turned it off or if I just didn’t hear it anymore, but I only recall silence and whispers.
