The Mommy Forums (alternatively titled ‘WTF’)

Published February 27, 2014. Last updated November 16, 2019 by Liz. This post may contain affiliate links.

Becoming a new mom is many things.  It is unparalleled exhaustion.  It is indescribable tenderness.  It is incomprehensible freakin’  acronyms at every turn.

A typical post on a pregnancy forum goes a little something like this:

DH and I are TTC and have been doing the BD for two months, no results yet!

I can’t stand the idea of DTD for another month and getting a BFN!   If I get a BFP I will quit my job and be a SAHM, which is great because I’m going to be a FTM and have so much to learn! Not sure if I’ll FF or EBF yet – any thoughts ladies?

IMHO breast is best, but since I don’t have my LO yet who knows how I’ll feel IRL!  TTYL ladies, hope to see some of you on the L&D unit, LOL! It will be amazing to see everyone’s DSs and DDs!!!!

It’s like A Clockwork Orange met Sweet Valley High and the two decided to procreate.  I have no idea why the mom community decided it would be easier to create a language from scratch.  We need more new things to try, ladies?

Here is a cheat sheet, for the uninitiated.  I hope this saves you a little sanity.  I nearly lost mine trying to understand WTF everyone was talking about, and let’s be honest, this is not a time when we have a lot of sanity to spare.
