Stokke Tripp Trapp Alternatives: Cost Saving Ideas to Get the “Tripp Trapp” Feel

If you would love to own a Stokke Tripp Trapp chair, you’re not alone. The Tripp Trapp is a classic chair that grows with your child. It’s beautiful, practical, and durable. There’s a lot to love about this chair! But if it’s just not in your budget, you can always consider some Stokke Tripp Trapp alternatives.

(And it’s no surprise that you might be wondering, is Stokke Tripp Trapp worth the money? This is not a cheap item! And it can add up when you consider the Tripp Trapp accessories you may also want. While I do feel that it’s worth it’s price tag, let’s look at some other more budget friendly options as well).

The Fornel has a very similar look to the Stokke, which makes this an attractive alternative. Unlike the Stokke, the Fornel cannot be used with infants and babies. The chair can be used with children ages 2 and up.

If you want an adjustable chair that can grow along with your toddler, but at a lower price point, this could be a good option.

Much like the Stokke Tripp Trapp, you can use the Abiie chair for years as your child grows. Starting from 6 months, your child can sit in the Abiie as a high chair. As your child grows, the chair grows right along with him or her (sound familiar)?

The Abiie doesn’t have quite the same streamlined look of the Tripp Trapp, but the wooden design and small footprint are similar to the Tripp Trapp.

You can remove the BPA-free tray on this chair for easy cleaning. An adjustable foot plate makes it easy for kids of any age to sit comfortably and well supported in this chair.

Like the Tripp Trapp, this chair can grow with your child from babyhood right up until 12 years old.

Note: Technically the Tripp Trapp can be used into adulthood, but I would guess most people aren’t buying a high chair with hopes that they can use it into old age! Hitting the pre-teen years seems like a pretty good run.

The Superharrow high chair offers some of the style benefits of the Stokke. It’s stylish and slim, unlike the bulky high chairs that take over the kitchen! With a wide base and 5-point-safety harness, parents can feel comfortable using this chair with babies.

You can convert this chair into a toddler chair that your child can use up until the age of three.

The Safety 1st chair comes with a removable safety harness included. Your child can use this chair from the age of 6 months to about the age of 9 or 10.

A nice feature of this chair is the fact that it not only fits at a standard size table, but the tray reaches over the top of the table for extra convenience.

The Safety 1st chair looks somewhat similar to the Tripp Trapp, although the design doesn’t have quite the classic look of its competitor.

The minimalist look of this chair is appealing, in keeping with the classic look of the Tripp Trapp. The customer service of this brand has received rave reviews, but some parents feel that the chair isn’t as practical or sturdy as it could be.

Tips for Buying a Used Stokke Tripp Trapp

If you still really want a Stokke Tripp Trapp, but just can’t manage the price tag, you might still be in luck.

  • You can sometimes find secondhand Tripp Trapp chairs on both Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist, although you may need to be patient. Also look in your local thrift stores! You might get lucky.
  • If you score a secondhand Tripp Trapp, make sure that they have the extended gliders on the back.

New chairs will come with these included, but a used chair probably won’t. You can contact Stokke to ask for a complimentary set of gliders if your used chair doesn’t have them.

  • If you can’t find a chair in the color you like, you can always paint your Tripp Trapp.
  • It will be more straightforward to get a pre-owned Tripp Trapp if you’ll be using it with an older toddler or preschooler. If that’s the case, you won’t need to worry about getting any of the Tripp Trapp accessories (like the tray or baby harness). If you buy a used Tripp Trapp for a younger child, you might need to buy accessories if they aren’t included.
  • You can find the manufacture date of your Tripp Trapp printed on the bottom of the legs. Check the manufacture date and make sure that any bundle sets or accessories that you purchase are compatible with the model of your chair.

If at the end of the day you decide that the Stokke Tripp Trapp alternatives or a used chair won’t cut it, you can purchase a Tripp Trapp on Amazon.
